NYFB’s Policy Development Process

Grassroots At Work — Making Member Voices Heard

Farm Bureau’s public policy development process makes this grassroots organization truly unique. Member farmers can turn their ideas into official Farm Bureau public policy allowing the organization to advocate for particular positions or legislation. Check out the policy development chart below to see how the process works. Learn how an idea to improve agriculture can become an official policy that guides Farm Bureau leaders and staff as they advocate for the position.

Farm Bureau members are currently developing policy that will be followed by the organization in 2018. A Discussion Forum is available that explores several emerging issues relevant to agriculture in New York and the U.S. This paper is intended to spark discussion at the county level and encourage members to think about solutions to these topics and develop possible public policy resolutions.
